Malaria Modelling Consortium convenes meeting in Zambia

Members of the Malaria Modelling Consortium's (MMC), funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, malaria modelling teams from across Europe and the US met recently with local participants in Lusaka, Zambia.

This face to face meeting gave an opportunity for the teams from the Institute of Disease Modelling (IDM), Imperial College London, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and the University of Oxford, to present their updated malaria modelling results to representatives including the Ministry of Health, Zambia, PATH programs such as MACEPA (The Malaria Control and Elimination Partnership in Africa), groups within the US President's Malaria Initiative (PMI), the Tropical Disease Research Centre, Ndola, the Macha Research Trust and programme officers from the Foundation.

The meeting provided an opportunity for modellers and field-staff to exchange knowledge on what malaria programmes in Zambia are doing, current challenges faced and future engagement, as well as questions on mass drug administration, community case management and detection, and enhanced vector control in Zambia.
