BMC and RSTMH conferences, hosted by SEEG members
In the past week we were proud to host the following events in Oxford:
- The BioMed Central conference, Challenges in Malaria Research: Core science and innovation took place at the Examination Schools, Oxford from 22-24 September 2014. Members of SEEG on the organizing committee were Professors Simon I. Hay, Peter W. Gething and David L. Smith, and Dr. Rosalind Howes was also a speaker.
- The Chadwick Memorial Prize Lecture, organised by the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH), was held at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, on 24 September 2014. President of the RSTMH, Prof. Simon I. Hay, awarded the prize to Chris Murray, Professor of Global Health at the University of Washington and Director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), who gave a lecture on "Measuring Progress on MDG 6: challenges and options for the future".
- RSTMH also held their biennial meeting on 25 - 27 September 2014 in Oxford Town Hall on the theme of Measuring Progress. President of the RSTMH, Prof. Simon I. Hay, was proud to present Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to the conference on 26 September. Princess Anne is a honorary fellow of the Society and addressed the conference at the session on Neglected Tropical Diseases. Other members of SEEG who contributed to the conference were Prof. Peter W. Gething and Dr. Catherine Moyes, who acted as co-chairs, while David Pigott and Dr. William Wint were speakers.
